After years of planning, dreaming, then finally building — I’m proud to officially launch Midwest Sauna & Steam LLC.
This isn’t just a business to me. It’s personal.
For those who don’t know me, I’m Mike Tassone, founder of Midwest Sauna & Steam and someone who’s lived through the ups and downs of physical and mental health. Sports injuries and surgeries made it harder for me to stay active. On top of that, I’ve lived with generalized anxiety disorder for most of my life — and I had always relied on exercise to manage it.
But as the workouts got harder, my health started to slip.
The anxiety came back.
And the 9-to-5 desk life in corporate consulting wasn’t helping.
That’s when I turned to something I had always loved: the sauna.
I couldn’t always find time to get to a gym or spa. So I started researching how to build one in my home. I spent years learning about traditional Finnish sauna design, studying every aspect — from framing, insulation, and ventilation to heaters, lighting, and the types of wood that truly make a sauna work.
Eventually, I built one in my own basement with my father - a memory that will stay with me forever — and it changed my life.
Daily sauna use helped me sleep better, breathe easier, reduce anxiety, and feel like myself again. That experience lit a fire in me (pun intended), and I knew I had to help others feel the same.

Midwest Sauna & Steam was born from that transformation. We create custom indoor saunas, designed and built by hand — right here in Ohio.
